In a world teeming with uncertainties, one truth remains irrefutable: your very existence as a sentient being in this world.

The purest manifestation of this fact is nothing else but the "present moment", something that you can constantly perceive. Numerous debates arise about what constitutes the "present moment". In reality, the "present moment" is nothing but a reflection of "you." It echoes your state of being, your existence in a perpetual state of change with each passing instant.

However, this state is not confined to the internal realm alone; it encompasses both the internal and external aspects of your existence. "This entirety" truly represents the essence of who you are.

Therefore, when you declare "I seek to understand myself," it is not an invitation to close your eyes and wander aimlessly within. This approach, often mentioned in various religions, ironically leads one astray.

To truly comprehend oneself is to engage in introspection: Are there discontentment and dissatisfaction in my life? How do I perceive my current circumstances? For example, if you find yourself envious of those with successful careers and abundant wealth, what factors led them to such positions? Amidst these reflections, how does the "I" that emerges within this context interact with both "myself" and others?

The "power of the present moment" arises from the decisions made after gaining self-understanding. It is within these moments of decision-making that true strength resides. In essence, comprehending "your relative position in matters that deeply concern you, in relation to others and the surrounding circumstances" leads to a genuine understanding of "yourself within the entirety of this state." Once you attain this realization, clarity will guide your present moment towards your desired direction, eventually culminating in a "powerful present moment."

As a physical entity on Earth, it's akin to existing within a grand thermometer, a gauge that marks your relative position among all beings and things at any given moment. Thus, understanding your specific position on this scale embodies the essence of "knowing yourself".

From this perspective, whether you aspire to rise or descend, there is no inherent right or wrong. Instead, you gain a distinct clarity, knowing precisely what you are doing, as you learn to continuously observe both inwardly and outwardly.

In light of the above, the "present moment" is not solely about the immediate sentiments experienced when closing your eyes in the here and now. Rather, it encompasses your position within the vastness of the world around you. This is your true present moment, the very essence of "who am I."

Starting from the perspective of "Who am I," you come to realize: How do others perceive you in this world? And how do you perceive this world? Only by reaching a level of insight where you see through all the facets of life, comprehend the subtleties of the human world, and recognize your own standing in relation to others, can you consistently "check off" your life's lessons, symbolizing the act of "letting go." It is through this continual process that you truly reach a state of profound liberation and rediscover your "intrinsic self."

Without genuinely undergoing this process, any appearance of enlightenment will be as short-lived as an epiphyllum, withering away in a day.
